Types of testing

Our clinic offers three types of COVID-19 tests, PCR, antigen, and antibody. Tests availability is subject to change.

Rapid Antigen tests are an anterior nare swab used for the detection of nucleocapsid protein antigen from SARS-CoV-2. This test shows if you have an active coronavirus infection and should take steps to quarantine or isolate yourself from others. Results in as little as 15 minutes.

Rapid Molecular A molecular test is performed using a nasal swab to detect genetic material (RNA) from the coronavirus. The test detects the presence of an active infection. Results in as little as 15 minutes.

PCR Test (24-48 hour turnaround) A PCR test for COVID-19 is a test used to diagnose people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The PCR test is the “gold standard” test for diagnosing COVID-19 because it’s the most accurate and reliable test.

Rapid Antibody tests identify active (IgM) or past (IgG) infections by looking for antibodies against the specific virus. A positive antibody test indicates that a person had an immune response to SARS-CoV-2 regardless of the presence of symptoms. Results in as little as fifteen minutes.
